What you'll do:

The Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer (CSQ) is responsible for the Global Commodity for designated commodity. Focusing on the overall commodity performance for Quality and continuous improvement for the suppliers to reach Zero Defects. Ensures that suppliers’ practices and procedures are consistent with the Veoneer Supplier Manual (VSM).  Maintains responsibility for coordinating, reporting and evaluating Veoneer standards VS002 & VS069 audits, Go, See & Fix Activities for the commodity.

  • Analyze VS051 data and provide detailed and consolidated rating-input-data on plant and supplier level in the designated commodity.  Take the lead to systemically improve the affecting areas; NCM, SQP (SAPQP/PPAP), and Responsiveness ratings with responsible suppliers.
  • Understand differences in local plant VS051 rating results.
  • Coordinate, facilitate or lead VS002 Audit, PFMEA Go, See & Fix and supplier visits activities with plant SQ’s.
  • Conduct or direct applicable VS069 Special process audits and maintain in Veoneer’s system. Create Special Process Audits as required.
  • When escalated or necessary, support local SQ with NCM’s.  Help solve Root Cause and Corrective actions of NCM’s. Support open issues leading to NCMs (e.g. missing / unclear visual requirements etc.)
  • Involved in VS 51 Escalation Model
  • Owner of Supplier Master P-FMEA per commodity
  • Owner of Supplier Lessons Learned process per commodity
  • Owner of Supplier Quality Read Across (Yokoten) process per commodity
  • Be actively involved in escalated supplier related issues
  • Provide access to specialist´s know-how in case of quality problems, if necessary
  • Coordinate cross-plant activities in case of quality problems, using Q-Matrix
  • Be involved in Escalation Model according to VSM
  • Support Purchasing (PU) in tool/site transfers
  • Participate in Supplier Pre-Qualification Process
  • Set targets for suppliers together with Commodity PU (NCM Reduction, VS051 results, SQP, supplier development programs to be conducted etc.) through the analysis (systematic) root causes and evaluate necessary improvements at supplier / at Veoneer
    • Follow-up of development steps and evaluate effectiveness
    • Evaluate improvement needs for Veoneer and address internally through IP process
  • Provide sourcing strategy input to Commodity PU based supplier system and technology capabilities
  • Support PU in deployment of quality related requirements
  • Be the communication channel for specific, component related customer requirements (through Customer Quality Window - CQW)
  • Review SQP performance and work with Project Teams to identify root causes for under-performance.
  • If necessary, support Project SQ to solve open issues leading to SQP problems (e.g. missing / unclear visual requirements etc.), feasibility issues (ALV-specifications vs. process capability at supplier) etc.
  • Provide access to specialist´s know-how (e.g. external network of material and process institutes etc.)
  • Lead or participate in improvement workshops at supplier or Veoneer facilities

 What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Design, Process, and/or Quality Engineer in high-volume production industry with > 5 years professional experience.
  • Semiconductor and/or MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems) technology knowledge including manufacturing processes and/or applications.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and quality systems knowledge 3-5 years previous experience in supply chain, quality and/or high-volume manufacturing of stated commodity.  ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is a plus.
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of quality tools common in the automotive industry (QFD, PPAP, S-APQP, Cpk, MSA, 8D, FMEA, etc.)
  • Must have strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database management software applications. 
  • Requires knowledge of TS 16949, Veoneer, Automotive, and Customer standards and requirements
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with managers and team members
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of action registers, reports and assist in the maintenance of documentation in the Veoneer system.

  • Working knowledge of and the application of advanced Quality tools such as Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), GD&T, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and Measurement System Analysis.
  • CSQ's are required to travel domestically and internationally to suppliers and other facilities between 50% and 75% of the working time. Due to global work, daily working times may vary.
